Like many reserve units, and the regular force, cadet corps are a great source to recruits. The young people who join the Army Cadet program usually turn out to be above average citizens with an interest in the military. The Windsor Regiment is the sponsoring Regiment for three cadet corps; 202 RCACC in Amhurstburg, 1112 RCACC in Tecumseh and 2828 RCACC in Windsor. Originally the cadet corps were part of local high school programs but during the 1960s they feel out of favour and became independent of the education system. Below you will find some uniforms used by our affiliated cadet units.
The cadet on the right in this photo, taken in 1947 is probably from the W.D. Lowe High School Cadet Corps.
This photo is from an annual inspection, probably in the 1960s and an example from our collection.
Cadet annual inspection in the late 1960s. The jacket on the cadet commanding the corps wears an interesting uniform that was not standard issue for cadet during that period. The photo on the right is an example in our museum’s collection.
